Doctor in Anthropology from UNAM, Aviña Cerecer brings together three decades of fieldwork articulating five original theoretical-methodological axes spanning indigenous cosmology, corporeality, border necropolitics, participatory action research, and the anthropology of digital futures. His work is distinguished by sustained ethnographic rigor —over 25 years of fieldwork in Guatemala, Chiapas, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Estado de México, and the US-Mexico border— while scaling his findings to global forums of AI governance and human rights. Full-time faculty at UASLP since 2006. Languages: Spanish (native), English (advanced), French (intermediate).
Doctor en Antropología por la UNAM, Aviña Cerecer articula en tres décadas de trayectoria cinco ejes teórico-metodológicos originales que atraviesan la cosmología indígena, la corporalidad, la necropolítica fronteriza, la investigación acción participativa y la antropología del futuro digital. Su trabajo se distingue por sostener rigor etnográfico de largo aliento —más de 25 años de trabajo de campo en Guatemala, Chiapas, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Estado de México y la frontera EEUU-México— mientras instrumentaliza sus hallazgos a escala global, desde San Luis Potosí hasta los foros internacionales de IA y derechos humanos. Docente de tiempo completo en la UASLP desde 2006. Idiomas: español (lengua materna), inglés (avanzado), francés (intermedio).
ISymbolic Anthropology of Indigenous Cosmology. Inaugurated the hypothesis of lightning as territorial sovereignty and Maya political resistance (UNAM 2000; Estudios de Cultura Maya, 10 citations; UASLP 2010). 25+ years of ethnography in Mesoamerica.
IIAnthropology of Body-Mind. Demonstrated that Western psychopathology harbors valid Maya cosmological logics, in "Corporeal Self-Harm Among Youth" (Revista Latinoamericana de Psicopatología Fundamental, 2009).
IIIParticipatory Action Research (PAR). UNAM doctoral work produced training, empowerment and territorial vindication. Currently coordinates the tének LLM: Anam IA in the Huasteca Potosina.
IVThe Dispossessed as Original Category. UCSD Visiting Scholar 2016–2017. Proposed the concept of border necroliberalism (MDPI, 2020, 5 citations): migrant, indigenous, and precarious bodies abandoned to precarious reproduction on the San Diego–Tijuana border.
VAnthropology of the Future and AI. Integrates migration, indigeneity and corporeality as a crisis of the human under computational regime (with Franco Berardi, UASLP 2023). Projects AI as a Human Right and develops decolonial protocols for language technology (ACL 2026, San Diego).
IAntropología Simbólica de la Cosmología Indígena. Inauguró la hipótesis del rayo como soberanía territorial y resistencia política maya (UNAM 2000; Estudios de Cultura Maya, 10 citas; UASLP 2010). Etnografía de 25+ años en Mesoamérica.
IIAntropología del Cuerpo-Mente. Demostró que la psicopatología occidental aloja lógicas cosmológicas mayas válidas, en «Autoagresión corporal entre jóvenes» (Revista Latinoamericana de Psicopatología Fundamental, 2009).
IIIInvestigación Acción Participativa (IAP). Su doctorado UNAM produjo capacitación, empoderamiento y reivindicación territorial. Hoy coordina el LLM tének: Anam IA en la Huasteca Potosina.
IVLos Desposeídos como categoría original. Estancia Visiting Scholar UCSD 2016–2017. Propuso el concepto de necroliberalismo fronterizo (MDPI, 2020, 5 citas): cuerpos migrantes, indígenas y precarios abandonados a la reproducción precaria en la frontera San Diego–Tijuana.
VAntropología del Futuro y la IA. Integra migración, indigeneidad y corporalidad como crisis de lo humano bajo régimen computacional (con Franco Berardi, UASLP 2023). Proyecta la IA como Derecho Humano y desarrolla protocolos decoloniales para tecnología de lenguaje (ACL 2026, San Diego).
